The Catester Files

My Name is Cate Burton Eales. I was born September 6, 1952 in Chicago, IL, USA.

Some of the places I've lived are more interesting than others.

• Chicago, IL until I was almost 7  (Too young to form an opinion.)
• Commack, NY until I graduated from High School in1970 (Long Island was flat and sandy; Commack wasn't even a real town. I've never been back. Sometimes I wonder what it's like now, but not very often.)
• Ithaca, NY until 1972 (Cold. Really, really cold.)
• Chicago, IL again until 1974 (By this time I was old enough to appreciate the benefits of a 24-hour town.)
• San Francisco, CA until 1993 (Best city on the planet.)
• San Jose, CA until 1996 (Near San Francisco.)
• Kelowna, BC Canada (Somewhat slower-paced, eh?)

So are some of the things I've done to make a living:

• Waitress in a hang-out for Northwestern University drama students and junkies. (Go! U Northwestern)
• Centrex Operator for U of Chicago and Hospitals
• PBX Operator for several medical centers in San Francisco
• Telecom Manager for a medical center in San Francisco
• Customer support for a regional long-distance carrier
• Customer support and technical support for Sprint
• Computer help, website design, hosting and management, columnist for castanet.net.

I have some things I do when I'm not working, too:

• Cycling (I ride a Marin "citybike" called a "Redwoods", and a Giant Yukon mountain bike.)
• Golf
• Trivia (I hosted some games for the now-defunct Mercury Center on AOL.)
• Curling (Because you're not taking advantage of all Canadian winters have to offer unless you try curling, which does not involve going downhill outside very fast on things attached to your feet.)
